This course will attempt an in-depth study of one theoretical model – Chomsky’s Transformational model. Remember that it was one of the models introduced in OLL233. In this course you will study in detail the workings of this model. The goals of the course are to:
• enable you attain a reasonable degree of mastery in the application of the model to the analysis of English language; and
• enable you appreciate the superiority of this model over others in the analysis of aspects of English language.
